I can't take all the credit for this one. I had help from my sweet sister in law. This was only the 2nd time I had tried working with homemade fondant and she had not used it much either, so this was a learning experience for both of us!

Chloe's 3rd birthday: Simple Polka dot cupcakes
Chloe was very much in to polka dots this year, so when I asked her what she wanted on her cake she said "polka dots!" At first i thought that was a little boring but it ended up being really cute, and nice and simple! I went with cupcakes to add to the simplicity.
The cupcakes are a mix of regular chocolate cake and whip cream and an almond meal choc cake that Chloe cake eat with a coconut fat sweetened and whipped.

Nemo! Chloe's 2nd birthday cake
Happy 2nd birthday to our sweet little Chloe! Chloe was very much in to Nemo when this birthday came around, so it wasn't to hard to decide to make her a Nemo cake.
Funny story with this one: I started it the day before her birthday and went to bed planning finish it the morning of her party. For some odd reason at about 2:30am I woke up and could not go back to sleep! I had pictures of nemo cakes dancing in my head. I finally got up about 3:00 and went down to the kitchen. At about 5:00am the cake was done and I was able to go back to bed and fall asleep. :D
The cake is a delicious homemade vanilla and frosted in a homemade butter cream icing. Nemo, his dad and the boat anchor are made from royal frosting that I piped and then allowed to harden. The # "2" and the boat are made out of gum paste. The sand is brown sugar.

Simple Wedding
This was a simple two layer wedding cake that I did for a couple that goes to our church. Some fresh flowers were added later by the florist but I was not able to get a picture of it. The design all over this cake is called "cornelli lace" (see picture to the right for an up close shot.) It's one of my favorite to do on cakes cause it's actually very simple to do but makes it look so much more "wedding-ish".
Family Baby Shower
When my sister was pregnant with her second daughter we decided to throw them a surprise "family shower". The whole family came and were showered by friends of theirs that wanted to bless and encourage them as they looked forward to the arrival of little Abigail. I decided to do this little cake for them. I chose purple cause that's the main color that the baby room is done in.
Here's an up close shot of the purple on white "Cornelli Lace".

Summer Wedding in Montana
In the summer of 2006 I got to do my Cousin Cassie's wedding cake up in Montana. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding and this cake fit just perfectly!
My cousin actually designed this cake when it came to the square shape and spiraled stacking. It was my first square cake and I loved it! She left the actual decor up to me only specifying that she wanted something fairly simple.

Here it is in the walk in freezer before getting flowered up :D.

Ta da!!!
